There is a world outside of the movie
We just had the first chemistry reading with the three male actors...and all I can say is that this movie is going to be a huge fucking hit.
We got three guys who are going to pull this off beautifully. I believed that those three were friends, that they were saying the lines, all of it. With no rehearsal these dudes were flowing like pros. I saw the whole movie in that short read, and it was exactly what I want it to be. I spent the whole reading smiling like a coolie hitting the superfecta, it was that awesome.
Me, Nils, Bob, Max, and especially Joseph Middleton found the right guys. We did it.
In fact, I was so fucking excited about this, I ENDED UP FORGETTING ABOUT AND SUBSEQUENTLY MISSING MY 1:30 TRIAL!! The chemistry read was at noon. We were done with the read and the post read bullshitting by 12:45 at the latest, and then Nils and I had coffee with the actors for another hour or so when Nils said:
Nils "Dude, don't you have a court date or something?"
Tucker "Oh shit! What time is it?"
Nils "It's 1:30."
Tucker "Why didn't you tell me?"
Nils "I thought you were just blowing it off!"
Tucker "I CAN'T BLOW OFF A FUCKING TRIAL DATE!"
Considering the court house was very far away from where we did the reading, and LA traffic is preposterous, I did not make it. Lost my WHOLE FUCKING BOND, and get this: The cop didn't even show. I could have had the whole thing dismissed free and clear if I had just gotten there like ten minutes earlier.
Instead I had to post an even bigger bond, set ANOTHER fucking trial date, and do the whole thing again. Awesome. All because I just HAD to drive in the HOV lane. Fucking LA.
