We finally found our Tucker.
I think.
I don't want to get too crazy yet, because we still have the chemistry reads to go...but damn, he was REALLY good. He had that look, that spark, that energy that is so key to inhabiting the character but that no one has really gotten exactly right yet. When he read, I got the same feeling I got when the guy who got the SlingBlade part read. I saw the character in him and for the first time I BELIEVED, on a visceral level, that the guy in front of me could be Tucker Max.
It's funny, after reading HUNDREDS of actors for Tucker, and having almost none get close, we had THREE guys come in today and do a great job. It was like not getting laid for six months and then having a week-long orgy.
As soon as I can, I will announce who this guy is, and who the rest of the cast is.
It's funny--the chemistry reads made me so excited last week because they went so well, but (potentially) finding Tucker has made me feel...relieved. It's like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Joseph was the same way. All that uncertainty falling away, all that angst gone...I almost want to cry, not because we found him, but because the stress of there not being a Tucker is now gone.
But I'm not going to cry. I'm going to go get Tucker Max drunk instead.
